FEA Structural Analysis
Finite
element structural analysis software as be around for a number of years,
until recently the analyses were mainly performed by Analysts hidden
away from the design engineers. The method of analysis followed the over-the-wall
method which was derived from the the designer
engineers literally passing their designs over the cubical
wall to be analyzed by the FEA guru. Unfortunately the initial design
did not pass the analysis and the design had to be modified and
resubmitted for analysis, this was a costly endeavor.
Today with the power
of current desktop computers, the software vendors offer a variety of
simplified analysis packages that allow a skilled engineer to
evaluate the performance of his or her design. When used properly and
knowing the full limitations of these tools, the simplified packages
have benefited many industries.
Unfortunately more
often then not, the limited FEA packages can not be used to accurately
model the real world behavior of complicated systems. Based upon years
of experience in both industry and academia, MCS has found that
misuse and misinterpretation of FEA often lead to product failure and unfortunately
even the loss of life.
MCS has the experience
and expertise in the use of FEA for simulation of real world problems,
in fact quite a few of MCS customers have internal FEA capability and
seek assistance from MCS regarding complicated nonlinear situations that
can not be handled by the simplified software packages.
MCS has the latest in
FEA technology necessary to simulation the real world response of
complicated real world systems
The following links
will present just a few examples of the FEA capabilities of MCS,
additional structural analyses are described within the failure
analysis section of this website.
