Who we are

At The Holistic Analyst, we believe learning is not a transaction — it’s a conversation between experience, curiosity, and reflection.
We explore how the mind learns, how materials fail, and how both stories reveal something deeper about being human.

Founded by Joseph P. McFadden, a mechanical engineer, educator, and lifelong tinkerer, The Holistic Analyst grew from a simple question: What if engineering education could feel as alive and creative as the human brain itself?

Through writings, audiobooks, and shared discussions, we connect neuroscience, design, and everyday problem-solving — helping learners of all ages rediscover the joy of asking why.

This space isn’t about perfection. It’s about process.
It’s where engineers, students, and thinkers come to reflect, share stories of failure and insight, and cultivate the art of thoughtful innovation.

An elderly man with glasses sitting on a wooden chair on a porch, smiling while reading a book titled 'Neuro Science'. He has a beard and is wearing a beige t-shirt. A German Shepherd dog sits beside him, with its tongue out and head resting on his lap. On the table next to them are a closed blue book, an orange book with a pen on top, and a bottle of Snapple peach tea. The background shows greenery and a blue sky with some clouds.
